Arco Floor Lamp

Inspired by street lighting, Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni designed this floor lamp in 1962 to bring overhead light to a room without a ceiling suspension. A stainless-steel telescopic stem reaches out from a white Carrara marble base to a swivelling, height-adjustable reflector in polished aluminium, which gives direct light through a perforated diffuser. The marble acts as counterbalance and has a hole for moving it with a wooden pole.
